Richard McMullen

Dr. Richard L. McMullen has represented his constituents in Johnson as alderman for 4 years.  During that time he has served on the budget and finance, personnel, and festival committees.  He has also attained his certification as a Municipal Official as administered by the Arkansas Municipal League indicating his commitment to continuing education and local leadership.  By day, Dr. McMullen works as a research associate of applied soil physics at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.  His research focuses on water and gas movement in soil and his expertise relates to how animal manure amendments to pasture soils influence water quality and greenhouse gas emissions.

Richard was born in Fayetteville, but has lived in Ireland and New Zealand with Valerie, his wife of 18 years, and two children, ages 12 and 16.  Their family has lived in Johnson for 8 years.  Previous entrepreneurial activities include on-site document destruction, recycling, roll-off services, and real-estate investment businesses. His hobbies are perennial, edible gardening and anything relating to cars, including autocross.
