Ordinance 1996-17

AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT VARIOUS STANDARD BUILDING
CODES RELATING TO CONSTRUCTION AND INSPECTION ACTIVITIES
WITHIN THE CITY OF JOHNSON, ARKANSAS AND ENFORCEMENT OF
THE PROVISIONS AS PROVIDED IN SAID CODES; TO REPEAL
ORDINANCE NO. 25 AND ORDINANCE NO. 151; TO DECLARE AN
EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
SECTION1: WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of Johnson, Arkansas
to adopt, in all aspects, the various Building Codes currently used in many areas of this
state relating to amusement devices, building, fire prevention, gas, housing, mechanical, '
plumbing and swimming pools and;
WHEREAS, the adoption of these Codes is done to facilitate proper inspection
activities by the City Inspector of the City of Johnson, Arkansas relating to construction
and maintenance of buildings within the City of Johnson, Arkansas and relating to public
safety, health and general welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of Johnson,
Arkansas that the following Codes, in their latest edition, are hereby adopted by
reference:
Standard Amusement Device Code
Standard Building Code, Appendices A,B,C,D,E,
FAHJ^KJL, and M.
Standard Existing Building Code
Standard Fire Prevention Code
Standard Housing Code
Standard Swimming Pool Code
Standard Unsafe Building Abatement Code
Arkansas State Plumbing Code
Arkansas State Gas Code
Arkansas State Mechanical Code
National Electrical Code
CABO One & Two Family Dwelling Code
SECTION 2: BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the City Council of Johnson,
Arkansas that any matters in said Codes which are in conflict with existing Ordinances of
the City of Johnson, Arkansas, the Codes shall prevail and the portions of the existing
ordinances are hereby repealed including, but not necessary limited to, Ordinance No. 25
and Ordinance No. 151 of the City of Johnson.
SECTION 3: BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that within said Codes, when
reference is made to the duties of a certain official named therein, that designated official
for the City of Johnson, Arkansas who has duties corresponding to those of the named
official in said Code shall be deemed to be the responsible official insofar as enforcing
the provisions of said Code are concerned.
SECTION 4: BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall take effect
and be in force from and after its passage, the public welfare requiring it.
SECTION 5: IT IS HEREBY DECLARED that an emergency exists and this
Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the health, safety, and welfare of the
citizens of Johnson, Arkansas shall become effective upon its passage, approval and
publication.
