Ordinance 1996-27

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE
No 22 CHANGING THE NUMBER OF COMMISSIONERS ON
THE PLANNING COMMISSION, TO SET THEIR TERMS OF
OF OFFICE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS,. A. C. A. 14-56-404 granted the City of Johnson the authority to
create a planning commission, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 22 created the Johnson Planning Commission and
set the number of members to that commission at five, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 22 designated that the Mayor shall appoint the
members to the Planning Commission and confirmed by a majority vote of the Council
members,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Johnson,
Arkansas, that Section 1, of Johnson City Ordinance No. 22 be revised to read as follows:
SECTION 1: There is hereby created a commission to be known as the City Planning
Commission for the City of Johnson, Arkansas, to be composed of seven(7) members
who shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by a majority vote of the duly
elected members of the City Council. The two newly appointed Commissioners shall
serve for terms of one and two years respectively, and their successors shall be appointed
to terms of five years. Vacancies shall likewise be filled as herein provided, and any
Commissioner appointed to fill any such vacancy shall serve the remainder of the term
thereof.
IN ALL other respects said Ordinance No. 22 is hereby ratified and confirmed.
EMERGENCY CLAUSE: The City Council of the City of Johnson, Arkansas
has determined that an emergency exists and this ordinance, being necessary for the
preservation of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Johnson, Arkansas,
shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
