Ordinance 2007-018

ORDINANCE NO. 2007-18
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 157 AND
DETERMINING THAT THE AMOUNT OF BUSINESS
LICENSE FEES SHALL BE SET BY DULY ENACTED
RESOLUTION AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 157 established the requirement of a business license for all businesses within the City of Johnson.

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 157, among other things, set the amount of the Business License Fee.

WHEREAS, due to the passage of time, complexities of business and accounting and the need to disseminate information concerning businesses the original fee does not cover the costs to the City of collecting, processing and disseminating the data and information on such businesses.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF JOHNSON, ARKANSAS, That,

SECTION 1: Section 14 of Ordinance No. 157 which is entitled "License Fee" is hereby amended, the original language being replaced in its entirety by the language in Section 2 hereof.

SECTION 2: That from and after the effective date of this Ordinance, Section 14 of Ordinance No. 157 shall read as follows:

"Section 14: License Fees, any person(s), firm, partnership, LLC, corporation, trust, or other legal entity who shall engage in, carry on, or follow any trade, business, profession: vocation or calling within the corporate limits of the City of Johnson (as such limits may be amended from time to time), shall pay an annual fee to be determined from time to time by proper resolution of the Johnson City Council."

SECTION 3: Nothing herein shall in any way affect business licenses issued prior to the effective date of this Ordinance. 

SECTION 4: In every other respect Ordinance No. 157 is ratified and affirmed.
