ORDINANCE NO. 2007-04
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING INTERFERENCE WITH
TELECOMMUNICATIONS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO
COMPUTERS. INTERNET, AND TELEPHONES WITH THE INTENT
TO PREVENT ITS USE TO SUMMON ASSISTANCE OR NOTIFY
LAW ENFORCEMENT OF A CRIME, ESPECIALLY DOMESTIC
VIOLENCE OR ABUSE WITHIN THE CITY OF JOHNSON,
ARKANSAS.
WHEREAS, telecommunication devices are vital to people who are in violent or
threatening situations, especially domestic violence or abuse, to contact and receive help:
WHEREAS, any person, who takes down, removes, injures, disables, prevents access to
any line of telephone, cell phone, cable or internet service to prevent its use to notify law
enforcement of criminal/threatening activity or threatened violence, will be guilty of a
misdemeanor, resulting in a fine up to $100.00 plus costs for each offense or each instrument
disabled or withheld.
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF JOHNSON,
ARKANSAS, That:
That there is hereby deemed a misdemeanor for any person, to take down, remove,
injure, disable, or otherwise prevent access to any line of telephone, cell phone, cable,
internet service or any other communications device (wired or wireless) to prevent its use to
notify law enforcement or others of a criminal or threatening activity or threatened violence.
That there is hereby levied a fine of Si 00.00 plus costs, for each offense or each
instrument disabled or withheld.
