ORDINANCE NO. 2012-12
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR COMPENSATION
FOR MEMBERS OF THE JOHNSON PLANNING
COMMISSION AND REPEALING ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND OTHER MATTERS
RELATED THERETO.
WHEREAS, the current ordinances pursuant to which the Johnson Planning
Commission was created, exists and operates provided that the Commissioners were to receive
no compensation for their services but could be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred in
carrying out functions of the Commission.
WHEREAS, serving as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Johnson currently
requires more time than formerly and the responsibilities of that position have grown as well.
WHEREAS, while it is impossible to fully compensate someone for the giving of their
time, their talents, their personal interests and for their dedication to the tasks involved in serving
on the Planning Commission, some tangible expression of appreciation is appropriate.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF JOHNSON, ARKANSAS, That:
Section 1: Effective with all Planning Commission meetings that occur after
December 31, 2012, each Planning Commission member attending a regular meeting or special
meeting of the Johnson Planning Commission (setting as a Commissioner or member of the
Board of Adjustment) shall receive compensation at the rate of $25.00 per meeting not to exceed
a maximum of 15 meetings per calendar year.
Section 2: This compensation is in addition to sums that a Commissioner may be
reimbursed for actual expenses incurred in carrying out the functions of the Commission.
Section 3: Payment of this compensation shall be once per year during the month of
December in the manner that City Council members are paid concerning withholding of taxes,
Social Security and Medicare.
Section 4: All ordinances and parts of Ordinances (as well as provisions in the
Johnson City Code) in conflict with the foregoing are specifically repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
