QRDINANCE No. 22A
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A CURFEw IN THE TOWN OF
JOHNSON, WASHINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, is has been established that permitting of minors under the
age of eighteen (18) years to roam the streets of the Town of Johnson,
washington County, Arkansas, at night, with or without the permission of
their parents, is contributing to the delinquency of said minors, and
WHEREAS, it is felt that the requiring of parents to keep their
children off the street at late hours of the night will tend to diminish
juver;.ile delinquency in the To1vn of Johnson.
NOH, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Town Council of the Town of
Johnson, 'Vashington County, Arkansas,
Section 1: On and after the passage of this Ordinance, a curfew
is hereby established for minors of the Town of Johnson as follows:
~:00 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday of each week.
~:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights of each week.
Section 2: A minor as defined in this Ordinance as any male or
female child under the age of eighteen (18) years.
Section 3: Any such minor found on the streets of the Town of
Johnson orin any public place within the Town of Johnson after 10:00 p.m.,
on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights of each week,
or 11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, who is not accompanied by
one of his parents or adult relative, or who is on the streets after the
prescribed hours or in a public place in the Town of Johnson, Arkansas,
without a legitimate reason for being in a public place or on the streets,
shall be deemed guilty of a miSdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall
be fined not less than $5.00 nor more than $25.00 .for each offence.
Section 4: Any parent, ward or guardian or other person having
the care, and custody of said minor child, who permits the said minor child
to be on the streets or in any public pl'ace in the Town of Johnson contrary
to this Ordinance, shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined not less than
$5.00 nor more than $25.00 for each such offence.
Section 5:· All Ordinances in conflict to this Ordinance are
hereby expressly repealed.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and publication.
