AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING TRUCK
ROUTES AND REGULATING TRUCK AND VEHICULAR TRAFFIC IN THE
CITY OF JOHNSON, ARKANSAS.
VniEREAS, there exists in the city of Johnson, Arkansas, a
number of one-way br"idges and
V~, such bridges were not designed and/or constructed
to accommodate with safety the large heavily loaded trucks and
vehicular traffic currently using such one-way and inadequate
bridges, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Johnson finds that
the continued use of such one-way aP-d inadequate bridge spans by
truck and vehicular traffic constitutes a present and c~ntinuing
danger to operators of such truck traffic and vehicles and to the
population of the City of Johnson generally, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Johnson finds that
truck routes should be established routing and heavy vehicular
tra~fic around such one-way and inadequate bridges and streets for
the safety of the operators oi heavy truck and vehicular traffic
and residents of the City of Johnson generally, and to regulate
and prohibit the use of non-designated truck and heavy vehicular
traffic to all other residential streets in the City of Johnson;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JOHNSON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE: That Hewitt Street and Ball StreeStreet be, and
said streets are hereby designated as the North-South truck route
in the City of Johnson; that 2nd Street from Hewitt Street to the
West corporate limi·ts, and Main Stn::et East and West from the East
Corporate limits Yiest to the St. Louis and San Francisco Rail Road
right-of-way is hereby designated as t.he East-West truck route in
the City of Johnson.
SECTION TWO: That the City of J'ohnson shall erect. signs
giving Notice that no person shall drive, nor move, nor cause to
be driven or moved as through traffic a vehicle or vehicles of a
size or weight exceeding Ten Thousand (10,000) pounds gross over

or upon the public residential streets situate in the City of
Johnson, Arkansas, except those streets designated as truck routes
in Section One .of this Ordinance, provided however, that the Provisions
of this Ordinance shall not apply to fire or police vehicles
or apparatus.
SECTION THREE; Any person, individual, firm or corporation
violating the terms of this Ordinance shall be fined in a
sum not less that $25.00 nor more than $100.00, and each day's
violation shall be and constitute a separate offense.
SECTION FOUR: This Ordinance is declared to be severable
alld if any section, clause, sentence or phrase shall be declared to
be unconstitutional, such unconstitutional section, clause, sentence
or phrase shall not affect the remaining sections, clauses, sentences
or phrases o£ thls Ordinance:
SECTION FIVE: This Ordinance shall be in effect from and
a£ter .its approval, passage, publication and the recording o£ a
certi£ied copy thereof with the recorder of Waffington County,
Arkansas.
