A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
RECORDER-TREASURER TO ENTER INTO AN INTERLOCAL
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SPRINGDALE,
ARKANSAS, AND THE CITY OF JOHNSON, ARKANSAS,
REGARDING THE EXTENSION OF 56m STREET SOUTH
FROM DON TYSON PARKWAY TO JOHNSON MILL
BOULEVARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Springdale., Arkansas, is in the process of making improvements to 56th
Street, and is contemplating extending 56th Street south from Don Tyson Parkway to Johnson Mill
Boulevard;
WHEREAS, the City of Springdale, Arkansas, and the City of Johnson. Arkansas, jointly applied
for and were approved for a Surface Transportation Program-Attributable STP-A grant in the amount of
$400,000, with a $100,000 local match (the City of Springdale's portion being $70,000 and the City of
Johnson's portion being $30,000);
WHEREAS, since a portion of the 56th Street improvements will be located in the City of
Johnson, Arkansas, and a portion of the 561'1 Street improvements will be located in the City of
Springdale, Arkansas, the City of Springdale, Arkansas, and the City of Johnson, Arkansas, wish to enter
into an interlocal agreement to memorialize the specifics of the extension of 56th Street from Don Tyson
Parkway to Johnson Mill Boulevard;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. 25-20-104, the City of Springdale, Arkansas, and the
City of Johnson, Arkansas, are granted the authority to enter into such interlocal agreement, with the
approval of the Arkansas Attorney General;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF
JOHNSON, that on behalf of the City of Johnson, the Mayor and Recorder-Treasurer are hereby
authorized to enter into an interlocal agreement with the City of Springdale, Arkansas, which is attached
hereto as Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof, subject to the approval of the Arkansas Attorney General.
