Black Hills Energy is upgrading equipment and replacing approximately 10,000 residential and commercial meters to support customers in Washington County this year.

“We’re continuously investing in infrastructure and utilizing advanced technology to best serve our customers. This upgrade will continue our ability to provide accurate billing and make it easier for our customers if they move,” said Joey Msall, PE, general manager of Arkansas operations at Black Hills Energy.

Black Hills Energy is partnering with Multi-Craft Contractors Inc. to exchange natural gas meters and meter communication equipment beginning in Elm Springs, Springdale and Tontitown then proceed to other Washington County cities to include Elkins, Farmington, Fayetteville, Goshen, Greenland, Johnson, Lincoln, Prairie Grove and West Fork.

Multi-Craft Contractors will call customers to schedule an appointment to replace the meter, which involves briefly turning off natural gas service. Scheduled work will require the contractor to access homes or businesses to replace the meter, perform a safety inspection and relight pilot lights. Multi-Craft Contractors employees will have identification to include a Black Hills Energy badge, safety vest and vehicle magnet.

If customers have questions, they may contact Black Hills Energy through the online form at blackhillsenergy.com/customer-service or call 888-890-5554.
